Joy of Giving

I feel helpless when I see young children begging for alms in the streets across the country. I feel helpless when I see blind people begging for money to their survival. I feel helpless when I see old couple carrying each other’s burden in the hot sun. I feel helpless when I see people sleeping on the footpath night after night.

What went wrong and where?

The answer is quite simple, its government’s fault! Is it really their fault are we not to blame for it equally? It’s easy to pass the blame on to another person when you can’t find a solution. As Shiv Khera had said, “If your not part of a solution. Then you are the problem.”

We do not have a proper community services in place for such people. We are not taught the, “Joy of Giving.” We Indian’s say we are proud of our traditions, a tradition of, what?
·      Throwing your parents out when they need you the most?
·      Walking by when you see a blind person struggling to find a safe path to walk?
·      Eating like dogs and pigs when you see small children crying for food?
·      Drink anything and everything when that old man or woman is dying of thirst?
·      Buy unnecessary clothes and shove it up your wardrobe when you see a man burn his skin or freeze his bones without a blanket?

Try sharing your things not necessary with poor people but with people who are less privileged than you! Let us learn the “Joy of Giving.” Trust me it feels really great when you experience it. The smile on the receivers face and their blessings will make your day.

I have done it and will keep doing it. Help a blind person to reach his destination, give a child a pack of biscuits, a thirsty man a bottle of water, a old couple some of your precious time hear them out. Join an NGO teach young and poor children fight against the odds and share the love they give you back. Some might love you even more than their parents!

Don’t buy them expensive things don’t share with them your pie of profit. Just give them what ever you want with love and affection and you’re bound to get more from them. That smile they give when you share will make your day.

I am thankful to my school, Holy Cross (Salem) and my father for, inculcating such values in me. I might sound boring and philosophical but to understand what I want to Conevy through this blog you got to experience it.

The “Joy of Giving” needs a big heart not a deep pocket!

Love this country no matter what and its people. Only if we try to make it a better place to live will we make it a better place to live.
